How it works
Under UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 (Article 51), end-of-service gratuity is a statutory benefit for any employee who completes at least one continuous year of service. The calculation is based strictly on basic salary — housing, transport, and other allowances are excluded. Your daily wage is derived as basic salary divided by 30. For each of the first five years of service you accrue 21 days of basic wage, and for every year beyond five you accrue 30 days. Partial years are pro-rated. If you resign on a legacy unlimited-term contract, a reduction applies (one-third for 1–3 years and two-thirds for 3–5 years), but you receive the full amount once you cross five years or if you are terminated. The total gratuity is capped at the equivalent of two years of basic wages, no matter how long you have served. This calculator follows that exact structure so you can quickly check what your employer should pay.
